Well I didn't get out as much this year as some years and I'm getting down to where I limit myself to just a couple types of flies (minimalism). Less to carry. One day in local waters during Memorial weekend. One long 5 day weekend in July for our annual family/friends camping/fishing trip. Had a week vacation in August and got a couple day trips in near home within the "Carpy 2-hour limit". A couple weeks ago with a couple friends at Blue Lakes for the day. Best fishing day this year. We caught 18 between us! I think I'll hit it again for a day during Thanksgiving weekend for the last hoorah. Probably not going to be too many people around on the water for turkey day?
Plans for next year. I got out for a day and checked out Virginia Lakes this past summer doing a campground scouting trip for some friends. Wish I had taken my rod with me that day. Everywhere I went they were catching. Never have fished, hiked or camped around there, but it looks inviting. Several small lakes within a couples miles radius of parking. It's on my list. Then there is our 18th annual 5 day weekend again in July with my family/friends at Twin Lakes, Bridgeport. More time in the kayak. That thing is sure a lot of fun. I still have yet to try Caples Lake on the kayak and it sure looks inviting. Just have to wait and see what happens.
Hope your year was fun catching or not.
