Made my first trip down to Crowley over the weekend (the spiderweb reaching out from Reno is getting a little bit bigger all the time). Really nice drive seeing the sun come on as I made my way down, especially mono lake and the peaks around mammoth getting touched first by sunrise. A friend was in LA and had an couple extra days so we met halfway in bishop.
Got on the water around 9 on Saturday, a little bit of ice still on the shore, but there were about 12 tubes/pontoons and maybe 3 boats on the lake. Couple of rises here and there as we rigged up. A fella with a nice looking but 2X4 truck got stuck on the beach a couple hundred yards away (note to self, stay out of the sand, skip the fancy rims and go for 4x4 option). Just as I pulled over toward him, he got loose luckily, my tires were starting to sink as well.
We gave midge thing a pretty good shot, but only saw one fish hooked between everyone, so about 2 we went down to the wild trout secion of the owens. Almost a mirror to the east walker so I knew what to do, but there was a ton of pressure there and just not enough water to make go of it, so went back to town cleaned up and had a decent mexican dinner complete with some refreshing margaritas (hot down in the river canyon for Nov).
This morning hit up crowley again and picked off some of the dinks rising to midges. Saw a huge fish crash the beach eating small ones... WOW! but that's as close as we got. Good time fishing... yadda catching

Next time!
