Hey Phil,
I was hoping to make it up there to catch up with you and fish some but alas, the wildfires in Southern California dashed those hopes

. Since the fires were controlled I have made a couple trips down there and have been busy coordinating our agencies emergency response program we have after disaster events like fires and floods. We are working with Cities and Counties down there to identify high risk areas for mudslides and debris flows from the burned areas that have potential to damage homes/improvements now facing this new threat. We will cost share with these entities on sandbags, K-rails, trash racks and debris basins to try to protect the properties at risk.
I am not surprised at the reports of all the people fishing up there and the fishing being modest to fair at best. I don't blame you for being concerned about the weekends crowds. Congrats on that wild fish today, I am sure that got the blood pumping well. I am sure that was a treat to get out and fish at Hud's riffle. Enjoy the rest of your trip and I look forward to the pictures when you can post some.
Best Wishes!
Bill
