In another Hotel in another Town on the Road Again 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Sitting here reading the Board through a wireless connection in a lonely hotel room in yet another city on the road. Watching the Warriors game, drinking a glass of fine Port while typing this note. Just had a meal at the local Round Table.....Maui Zaui Personal Pizza, a couple glasses of red. Twas a long drive up I-5. I did not receive a ticket, being careful to observe the laws of this great state of California. Stopped for gas in Redding and utilized a very civil restroom that had been cleaned not more than 20 minutes before.....no tree besides the road on this trip. Continued up I-5 and made a left at a well known turn-off. Pulled into a no-tell motel in a small mountain town with a river nearby. I parked on the right side of the road, as one NEVER knows when a rogue sheriff will show. Just happened to find steelhead gear in my truck upon arrival. The anticipation of the first Northern California Steelhead of the year in the cold chill of the morning an a run that I last fished in Decemeber last year just before last year's license expired is fresh on my mind. I have two fly rods in this room, and flies, and new tippet to tie on, and tomorrow I will venture to a coffee shop and bakery right next door at promptly 5:15 to ensure that I reach my intended destination at a time when others are sleeping.

First steelhead trip of the year. Life is good!

Good luck, Phil!
Let us know how it goes (generically, of course!)

Phil,
Why would other people be sleeping at 5:15. The sun is over the yardarm, and it's almost supper time...

The reality of it was, I made it at 6:00. Was about 1/2 behind schedule. But I could start fishing as soon as I got there!
