The Things We Don't Want To Do 17 Years, 6 Months ago
|
|
Well, you've seen the link at the bottom of my posts for a couple years now inviting you to "Meet Mason". This little guy is the nephew of my good hunting and fishing partner Andy, and his dad is a great friend as well, even if he is the hardware-fishing-for-bass type. I knew Mason's dad Eddie first, and we became friends to the point that their entire extended family is like our own family. We do everything together. Not just fishing and hunting, but we attend and serve at church together, play music together, work together, rodeo together, and just plain hang out together.
Tomorrow we get to attend services for Mason together. We lost him last week at the tender age of 3. Of all the things we've done as extended family, this is the one I want to do the least. Mason meant so much to us, and while this is not unexpected, it is tremendously difficult.
Maybe this post isn't terribly ff related, but I hope that as my friends you'll understand. I'm sure you will because you have always been right there beside those who are down, regardless of circumstance.
So if you remember to say a prayer for the Jenkins family tomorrow, please do. If you get a chance to hug your kids and tell them you love them, please do. Take the opportunity while it's there.
-- T.

TD,
My heart goes out to you, your family and the Jenkins'.
There can be nothing like losing a child, regardless of the circumstances. The pain can seem to be too much for too long. Hang in there with your "family" and give them all hugs and tears and those difficult smiles that come when remembering Mason's good times.

TD,
My thoughts and prayers go out to Mason's family, and yours, and all those affected.
I can tell you, as a father of 4 boys, that I thank God every day for my children's health and happiness. Nothing is more precious or valuable.
I can not concieve of the pain and heartache, but know many of us care, and will pray. And all things, as you know, are for a reason.
Our associate pastor and his wife lost one of their children at an early age, and I am continually amazed at their resiliency, and willingness to talk about the experience. The amazing thing is, it helps them and those around them. But it all takes time and healing.
God bless.

Thomas,
May God hold you and the Jenkins family close in the coming days and give you comfort and strength. To lose a child defies understanding. I can think of no greater test to one's faith. God Bless you all in this time and in the days beyond.

I can't even imagine how tough that must be. Stay close to family and you'll all get through this somehow.

Always sad to hear the news of lost loved ones. I pray that the Jenkins family find strength through friends and family like you, and peace in their time of mourning through our Father.
