steelheading the trinity early november 17 Years, 6 Months ago
So i was planning on going for steelhead on the upper trinity river near lewiston early november during the week. My favorite place to stay (lewiston lodge) is all booked up for the days i wanted. I still want to go, but now i'm concerned that it's just going to be packed with fisherman even during the week. Also, not really sure of another place to stay in the area.

Does anyone have any information on the crowd factor up there this time of year? I have a few spots on the river that i hike to where i can usually find some solitude, but not sure how well that will work out this time of year. (i was planning on wading) Also, any recomendation on where else to stay? Thanks in advance for any advice.

i have a similar question: i'll be camping up at steel bridge for a weekday or two at the very end of oct., but i'm worried that the trinity will be shoulder to shoulder, making wade fishing mighty unpleasant. any place to walk away from the crowds, or am i better off ditching the trinity and hiking into pit 5 for some solitude and trout, but no steelhead?

We head up a bunch throughout the year and usually camp at the Lewiston Bridge RV resort (http://www.lewistonbridgerv.com/). We grab the nice campsites closest to the river and have been doing so for years. Nice and safe with great tree cover.

When we don't feel like freezing our a$$es off, we stay at the Lewiston Valley Motel (I can't find the website right now... ). It's right next to the gas station/Mama's restaruant and I think it might be the cheapest lodging in town.

That's all if you're fishing the upper river, of course. We'll be up there again in the beginning of November, so be sure to leave some fish for us...

My buddy and I camped down lower for the first time this past weekend at Big Flat, and that was nice too. All the Shasta/Trinity parks seemed pretty good.
