A day of Casting Practice ... :pic: 17 Years, 6 Months ago
[i]Sheesh... It'll take me a while to get use to this new forum... I guess the image tags are case sensitive. Photobucket automatically copies the url with the image tags but they are capitol letters... didn't work here.[/I] Anyway... I digress.

Dark Wader (a handle of a friend from another board) and I hit Beardsley Afterbay Saturday for a day of mostly casting practice. We're not complaining here...It was a great day on the water, relaxing and all.. and for Dark Wader it was all new waters. (if he's like me , I love exploring new waters.) But in 5 1/2 hrs of fishin the Beardsley Afterbay, we only caught 1 fish each.

We did take a break and fished the river for an hr or so & caught a few fish in there up to 12".

The AB was 3 1/2 feet down, & then, by the end of the day, it was back up to normal levels. I don't know why they are doing that.. in many years of fishin there I've never seen the levels change so much as the last 2 time I've been in there. It really messes up the aquatic life and not to mention the fishin!!!!

We arived at Beardsley around 9:45 am Stopped and looked at the lake. The water is low (You might need a 4x4 to lanch a boat through the sand.) but I hear the fishin reports have been good in there ( This last rain might have changed it though!!)

A Red Tail hawk ( I think) flew over head..

View of the AB from the Dam

The water was like glass as seen from this reflection.

Dark Wader working it.

Taking a break working the river.

A monkey flower on the river.

And fall color on the AB.

The water was about 2 feet visability (unusual for there, I think because of the lower water level, it stirred up the silt) A day after a rain storm ( I never have much luck after a rain) all made for a very slow day, but It was fun anyway... It's allways nice to get out!

...and the pic posting will get easier as time goes on. At some point we'll enable full html editing.

Nice pics - you certainly have a good eye behind that camera.

Slim,

Dam!! I THOUGHT that was you, but it's been awhile since I saw you on the board, so I wasn't sure you were still hanging There. My buddy and i went downstream about 5:30 or so and got a very few trout in the river below the afterbay.

Sorry I didn't ask if it was you. I was in the Fat Cat.

I thought that was a friendly, familiar, face !!! Have you put on some weight? You look good.. Nice Fat Cat too !!!

Well Beardsley is basicly my back yard.. Just a 40 min drive from my house...So I'll allways be around.. Just haven't looked at this board much.....it's mostly people "FAR North" California rather than around here... ;o) lol... I do visit another board that has many more local fishermen.... no disrespect at all.... Lot's of friends have been made here at the NCFFB!!!

At lease we briefly chatted on the water hu?

Slim,

What kinda question is That?? Of course. I have gotten older as well.

Nice chatting. I started seeing more fish on the fish finder directly under me when I turned that feature on. I really need to use that thing more often...

They were all lying right above the weeds, as in less than a foot above the top of the weeds. Typically in 8 to 10 feet of water.

I'll get up there again.

Hey there Slim. I sure miss those days on the afterbay we used to do. I'm finding some great spots over here though. Ton's of places within the Carpy 2 hour limit! Blue Lakes and Indian Creek reservoir are becoming my favorite float tube/kayaking spots.

Great pics as usual Dave ! 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Hey Dave,

Great pics as usual. It has taken me some time to get used to the new board format as well but I am liking it more all the time. Been playing much music these days? Look forward to the chance to pic together sometime in the near future.

Best Wishes,

Bill

Thanks Bill.

My wife and I & 2 friends went and saw the Son of The San Joaquin a couple of months ago & I was able to Video Tape it. It was nice.

How did thing's go with your 2nd CD?

Hey... I hear the Striper Bite is picking up. Have you been out lately? Want to join up next week in the afternoon?? (Just a thought)! I'm been going nuts
to head out there but I've been too busy...grrrr!

Hey There Rick. Good to see you.

Have you caught any Kokes in Indian Creek?? Are there any Macs in there too??

I had gone out to Oakdale to catch some stripers in late Spring time this year. It's cool to float the river down there. Some flyguy caught a 40 lbr out there this season.

Take Care.

Hey Dave,

Glad to hear you are still having fun with the guitar . Even playing with the band I don't get enough time to practice like I should . Seems there is just never enought time for everything that is going on.

Sounds like a good concert you got to see. I took both of my boys to see Doc Watson about two weeks ago at the Mondovi center in Davis. What a special treat that was . He is 84 years old and still doing might fine stuff with that guitar. He was my hero when I first started playing guitar 30 years ago and still is my hero.

The 2nd CD is coming along fine and I am really excited about it. We are in the final stages of mixing right now. Hope to have a complete package before the end of the year.

Hey I might be able to slip away from work some afternoon to come down and fish with you in the delta or somewhere down there. I have a hobie quest kayak that hasn't been wet for a long time. I think it is in withdrawl and needs to get wet here soon .

Lets think about some specific times etc.

Best Wishes,

Bill
