Well we headed off Friday morning (took it at 55 to save a bit of fuel), arriving in Brigeport around 2:00 or so. Headed over to Ken's for advice and supplies.....gave us some good info to get started. Headed over to the E Walker and picked up a brown and a few rainbows. Dad and brother were still batting goose eggs. Headed back to Ken's Saturday morning so my brother could pick up a few more flies........again, good info.
My brother hooked into his first trout on a fly, looked like a really nice fish but lost control and the fish. But he was all jazzed about fly fishing and especially amazed at using a size 20 fly. My Dad insisted that he would not use nymphs and fished his dries. I finally gave him a tan EH caddis and he promptly hooked up with a really nice keeper. That sort of put the icing on the cake, seeing all three of us hook into fish.
Today we headed back, hitting the E Carson on the way. But it's running high and off color.
The Little Walker is fishing well but we decided the walk was a bit too tough for Dad. The W Walker is still running high and off color. The E Walker was fantastic, can't wait to get back there!
But more important was the time the three of us were able to spend together. We talked at length about how we should have done this trip years ago. We also decided that we can't afford any excuses for not doing it again......soon!
