The Northern California Fly Fishing Board

Last year Joey and I won the one of a kind "Hud's Riffle Rod" at the bash last year. The next morning we came to the conclusion that the rod should go to Hud's son Jody. Pappy made a few more touches to the rod and sent it to Jody. Pappy knew it was very generous for Joey to offer up the rod and said he would take care of Joey for his generosity. Well Pappy came through and built Joey an awesome rod that is absolutely beautiful. It has a neat feather inlay and very classy wraps. Pappy not only donated the first rod but he also made the second one for Joey as well. I just wanted to say THANKS to Pappy and I hope you enjoyed father's day with you daughter this past weekend.

Wow, great story there Joe . You definitely raised Joey the right way and you can certainly be proud of his noble gesture to give that Rod back to Hud's son. Mighty nice of Pappy to reward him for his thoughtfullness as well. That is one of Life's good lessons for sure.

Let me add another story about Pappy's generosity...about 2 years ago, I was packing up my stillwater gear to head up to one of the local reservoirs. I couldn't find my dual rod/reel carrying case anywhere in my garage. The only way they walked off had to be a week or so earlier when I'd left my garage door open all night. I know it was that stupid outdoor cat of ours who tripped the door sensor when it coming down and caused it to go back up after I'd come in the house. Anyway, I told Slo about it & he mentioned it to Pappy, and withing about 3 or 4 days, a beautiful 5 weight shows up at my door...courtesy of Pappy. That's been two years, and I still haven't met Pappy, but because I'm a friend of Slo's, that was good enough for Pappy. And to top it off, Pappy wouldn't give me his address so I could send him a check! Nope, it was outta the goodness of his heart, and here he goes again. I love you man! ;o)

As I've said before Joe, you get my vote for Father Of The Year. That act of kindness from Joey was awesome. You should both be proud.
