Steve,

Yes I am taking care of the Powerhouse. I actually moved into one of the cabins too! Now I can walk to work.

We hit Panther Creek on the opener only to find that the flows were really low. Between five of us only one person managed a fish. A 10" rainbow.
The flow below Salt is down to ~50 CFS, and Electra cycles with the power demands from Folsom (ISO controls the generation). The flow entering Tiger Creek Afterbay is down to around 105-110 CFS. Blue Lakes was a possibility today, but we stuck with the moving water. Maybe the next trip.

Cindy and I stayed at Bloomfield last summer for a couple of nights and had the place to ourselves. Well except for Rangers and people driving into Highland Lakes. Beautiful country that is. We almost stayed in Hermit Valley, but I am glad I pressed on. On the way back from there we passed by Silver Creek and it looked like the bank was really steep next to the campground (if it is the spot I am thinking of). I was trying to get the members of AFF together for an outing up at Bloomfield in two weeks, but none of them signed up for it. Anyone else interested in a Mini-Bash? Let me know.

Steve,

I think that road has a similar name to an old TV Series starring Michael Landon and Lorne Greene, no? I have tried to access it from the north side, but it appears to go through someone's property and is closed. I have not walked it up the canyon from Electra. With the low flows in summer that canyon warms the water way too much. The only saving grace is the cold water coming out of Electra... Right above Electra I saww some huge fish a few years ago. When I finally got down to the water to fish for them I saw what I couldn't see from up on the hill. They were suckers... One of these days I will walk up farther, but I think it will have to be closer to the season opener so that there is more water in the river and it is cooler.

The cabin was vacated by a retiree, not a death.

Flows entering the Regulator from Tiger Creek are minimal this year.

Bloomfield is the campground that everyone drives BY to get to Highland Lakes. Located just down the hill from Highway 4...

Let me know if you are headed up this way.

Thanks

yeas thats the one ,,well good you saved me a day of driving around

do you think the water is already too low in the canyon ?

i can always come in from 26 west point no?

sounds like its to late for upper tiger

found a sweeet spot on the sf moke couple years ago not easy to get to but looks great ,,,too much water too little time

did they ever give up on that silly idea about a new dam above pardee ?

there are some nice browns in electra but you got to know the flows and deal with the kyakers

peace

Now this is the kind of thread... 18 Years, 2 Months ago
...that got me hooked on this board years ago! Seems like we don't get nearly enough of these now.

The latest I heard was in an email from the Foothill Conservancy the other day. EBMUD wants to build another dam down stream from the current Pardee Dam that will impound a whole lot more water (as in flood the Middle Bar stretch of the Moke). Possibly even a new Highway 49 bridge... They are also pursuing the idea of raising Lower Bear Dam. There is supposed to be a meeting open to the general public in Oakland some time soon.

Here is a link to the information from the FHC http://www....36.37.38.40.42.43.39.44

Thanks Steve,

My 4 day trip turned into 2 so my options were some what limited. Decided to just hit a few creeks up in the Alpine area for small brookies. Weather was great with the exception of a small squall that moved through Saturday afternoon. Fished Lake Alpine on the way out with no luck. Will try and work my way up 88 an back down 4 in a few weeks.

Craig,

Cindy and I will be up around that area the week of the 4th. Probably at Bloomfield. Let me know if you want to meet up.
