Anyone out for Shad?

I fished the Sacramento-Chico on 6/1 north and south of the Hwy-132 Bridge from 1:30-8:30, jet boat. Got fish but was slow, hens were small, flows low at 4,000 cfs.

Was going to go again today but reports from Hamilton area all worse.

Spoke to Jim at Red Bluff Fly Shop. Not much yet but did not expect peak of run until July 4th. Fish still around Los Molinas. Has however been good at Shanghai Bend on Feather.

Al Smatsky also said American very slow.

What Have you found? Perhaps its just a bad year, with too many sucked up by the pumps. May have to fish San Luis to fund good shad this year.

With two shad trips this year on the Sacramento,(one three weeks ago and one just last weekend), I have also noticed that the fish seem smaller than in runs of past seasons.
Even at Verona which gets fish early in the run the roe shad were smaller and the bucks were dinks.
There may be larger fish in this year's run but I don't think there are many.

I keep hearin' about how the shad run is sucking, but my experiences prove otherwise.
I guess y'all missed this one, what with all the wonderful relevant fishing posts that have been hitting this board lately!!!!
