I have to say in reading all the posts from the last couple of days, there are a few real idiots on here but Paul you take the cake, you seem like a real ass!

You don't seem to respect anyone else's opinion (i.e. if they don't agree with you then they are wrong), you have a superiority complex, and possibly a god complex. Your close mindedness is pretty scary.

Not everything is black and white, good or bad, left wing or right wing, etc. They're are shades of gray in all of these items.

Might be time to do some reading and try educating yourself a little bit. You seem to attack damn near everyone (even those that appear to be more on your side).

From what I've seen it might do this site some good if you kept your views outside of fishing and fishing related matters to yourself, they seem to do more harm than good.

Hey Bones, don't know if you'll read this or not, but I just started taking some of the advice often given here which is... basically... if you don't like the thread, stay off it. I've been trying to do that for the past couple of weeks and it really does change the dynamic of the experience. If something is going in a direction I don't like, I just let that thread go on without me and turn toward the posts I want to read and be a part of. That worked on the DIY Salt thread. The pot thread I made a smart ass comment and then just stayed out of it once it got nasty.

That's my $.02, but it has worked. There is something beautiful about being oblivious and I'm enjoying it.

And thank you for your response. It pretty much proves a good amount of what I said. From what I can tell you are much more of a detriment than an asset to this board. So take it under advisement (typically spelled with 2 e's) and do whatever you want with it because I seriously doubt you are the type of person to look in the mirror, after receiveing criticism, to ascertain if there is some truth in what is being said. That would take an educated and at least partially open mind to accomplish.

Bones and Ralph, you guys are an asset to this board. Was the thread REALLY that bad? I remember back in '02 when I first came on board that there were a lot of political posts that raised a lot of ire. If George Bush hadn't lost the support of most of his constituency, I bet there'd still be politics flying left and right.

I kinda enjoyed the mj thread. It's a controversial subject that still gets folks' juices flowing 40 years after making its way into the middle classes. Out of the 700? or so folks on this board, how many actually got obnoxious?

I agree and am doing so on Saturday. I could make this same point to you. That was a big part of my post. When you stick to fishing and fishing related matters you are are a wealth of information (and have no doubt I could learn tons from you) but when you get away from said matters you can be a real jerk.

Actually I do contribute to the board. As I stated in my post I have not signed up to the new board (i.e. I was a part of the old board). Also I do post on here just typically about fly fishing and fishing related matters, typically stay out of the political arena. I would love to attend a bash and am hoping to do so next year.

I have already learned tons from many members of this board. I am sure some are more educated and some less educated than myself. I would like to clarify that in using the word "educated" in my posts I was not necessarily referring to a degree or formal education. I was speaking more about educating yourself on some of the specific topics that you appear to have such strong OPININONS about but seem to sometimes lack good factual basis. This is all that I was saying, but I doubt I needed to clarify that since I assume you were just taking a small pot shot at me (and possibly deservedly so).

Well Paul I kinda doubt from your initial response that you will take anything away from this other than some random assclown taking shots at you. That wasn't really my intention. Maybe I'm wrong but I think some of the people talking about leaving this site could point a finger at least partially at you and the way you deal with people. Might be something to think about (or as I suspect in your case, maybe not).
