The Northern California Fly Fishing Board

I made a post in the recent DOA thread and was asked about what has changed in the board format and policies that is so different from the old format. After receiving over 10,000 views and earning a spot as the most viewed thread in the history of this format it disappeared. The thread was as one poster put it a trainwreck, and perhaps there are some things in their that are uncomfortable. However, far worse than anything in that one post was allowed to go unchecked in the old format. I'm not criticizing or asking for any reason as to the lockdown on the post, but the mindset that will not allow that post is a departure from the format a lot us started with and one of the reasons why some no longer participate as much as they once did at one time.

Hey Jeff - I'm not sure I understand. The thread was removed by the suggestion of many. I think people said what they wanted and we don't need the personal attacks to get in the way of what the board is really about.

Well, the DOA thread sure took off like a wildfire up a windswept hillside! It is about time something here did.

Yet it still met the same fate as my previous posts, as I mentioned in that initial DOA post. Hah, someone (unimportant, one of the 'usual 10' even mentioned how it hadn't been deleted at that time because it met board criteria. That thread has been one that most resembled the posts of years ago - widespread participation by many, even those who have moved on to other watersheds (great to just see some of those names again from the eyes of this long time lurker). It offered lots of information, good back and forth, the usual banter and BS. These are the things that used to be here, and are no longer.

Hell, it even looks like it breathed some life into the place. I've seen more actual fishing related posts in the last week than in the last 4 months. Amazing. Maybe it will spark something, though I doubt it will be anything long term. "What the board is really about" - that is what the board is really about (oh, I mean was), posts like that, they just haven't been here in so long they aren't recognized. Personal attacks? No one associated with the board was flailing away in that regard. Mirror check.

It was good to see a last breath of life, a perfect time to check out of here. I'll be the one you see fishing, and wearing a smirk if I see you sporting NCFFB attire.

The board gave more to you than you ever gave back.
