Wow, what can I say. Sad to see the board like this. As I learned to fly fish in the 90s this place helped me as much as anything. So rather than bitch I thought I'd give a non-local report on some waters that are well publicised.

Fished the Deschutes the first couple of weekends of May. Did the self drift boat deal and had a great time. Drop bote in water, drive to pull-out, ride back up and tire dog out While one side of the river has a raod along it the other side is basically BLM type land below the reservation. I did a 4 mile shuttle and had miles of river to myself as I watched car after truck after car on the other side. I hate crowding as much as anybody, but when they are 100 feet of river away its actually entertaining!

First weekend was the best. We have been locked into a cross between winter/spring for months now(mid 50's with drizzle). I knew the heat was going to break through the next weekend so I wanted to scout the drift and get ready. Got my #6 foamies ready and hit the water. Did awesome in the rare shallow areas I could find on the dry/dropper. Those freaking redsides put L Sac to shame, no foolin. Got some nice feesh and pretty much had the place to myself.

Next weekend the weather broke and so did the aluminium hatch. Lots of boats, lots of trucks, etc. Fishing wasn't as good on top, but I tied up a nice drown adult pattern(basically a rogue stone with a bucktail/flash wing and lead) and slamed my first 16'+ feesh. Wow is all I gotta say about those guys. Got up to about 20" but they felt like steelies at that point.

So in recap all you have to do is figure out when one week before the good weather is going to be! Just foolin, I'm sure they are still there for the takin. But if ya do head up try to find a bote or bring your pontoon.

Sorry to hear about all the bad imes here. Maybe all the ranting/raving brought about good discussion that needed to be out there? Just sayin.....

Anyway, thanks to JeffG and the NCFFB for lots o stuff.
