I've been at least reading the board since the Chico days. It seems the NCFFB has always been on my favorites list and I have probably checked in most working days.

I very rarely contribute however, there were times when I did, but mostly just observe. I've met a few people from the board and discussed "secret places" with others. I made the mistake of stepping into the mudslinging a few times, but that's what happens when folks feel passionatly about something. Seems to me that most of the crap that went on was mostly started by folks with nothing better to do than try to get a rise out of others...cheap entertainment.

It took me awhile to get used to the new format, and truthfully, I like the old better but it has not stopped me from logging on and checking out the board on a regular basis and I will continue to do so no matter the format.

I hardly ever fish anymore...moved down to flyfishing hell and frankly don't have any time anymore, but I am still keenly interested in what is happening on our rivers.

I can't remember where I've been, but for some reason unknown to me I suddenly have a craving for sausages.

"Each night as I haul myself onto the back of county garbage truck no. 2, there is a familiar wind, some thread of moonglow or starlight, a splatter of dark rain on my skin, something that stirs my memory, and again, if even for a brief moment, I am on some mountain river, some stretch of bright water, full of possibilities, including the possibility of trout, perhaps one that, when hooked, will haul me in and out of time, in and out of life's mysterious and frightening, wondrous and incomprehensible continuum, even to the edges of the universe." -- Harry Middleton

1-If any former members or simply individuals that monitored the old forum are still with us and are willing to take the time to chime in here, it would be nice to know why you all left.

I haven't left, I'm just finding it more and more difficult to participate.

The primary reasons I've done little posting is that from a fishing standpoint, questions of what, where and when generally were answered here and on the old board in short order, so I didn't see any point in regurgitating the same info or dwelling over minutia.

The move to the new board presents my system ( an aging Pentium II - running W'98 w/ a 52K dial up ) with some real hurdles and as I've stated before when asked, updating my system to meet the demands of one bulletin board, just isn't in the cards.
While I still visit here fairly often, the difference between the loading time ( which is way to long ) to read this board and the additional time needed to reconfigure my computer to log in and post, negates spontaneity.

Other reasons for my lack of participation. There have been times when I could've added some meaningful input, yet for whatever reasons, earlier posters had chosen to either attack the idea or question being posed, the poster or the place being asked about, without ever offering a solution or any positive suggestions.

For me, these boards act as clearinghouses for positive exchanges of information and ideas. If we happen to form friendships along the way, all the better.

It's a not a matter of the board ending or dying ( although it might be suffering from that flu that's been going around. ), for me it's a matter of civility and ease of use.

All the best, Dave

This is nothing new, only the details are different. Every board I've posted on had gone thru these hard times when it feels that the original feeling is gone. You know what? It is. That's life, shit changes. People come, people go. Some for good reasons, some for silly. Doesn't matter, change is inevitable. Bitching about it or laying blame isn't going to change a damned thing. If you don't like the new feel get over it or move on - I've done that on several boards I used to post frequently.

I just don't have time to wait for this site to download and I don't like the new format.I would be back in a minute if the old board were reintroduced. It's that simple.

I have participated in Dougs board from the very beginning and it never had anything to do with my absense here.

After the first couple of years of posting I limited my posts to long hike in spots and C&R spots. This is because after I would post here often there would be much more traffic on those spots. I never posted about the more environmentally sensitive spots I like to fish, particulary small creeks I'm known to haunt. I did on occaision discuss them but never gave out names.

On the other board I am free to discuss things that I would not mention in a more public setting. Again this did not limit my posting here as I would not have posted that imformation here anyway. I have explored literally thousands of miles of dirt roads finding new spots for years and I would not give that information to someone who might not respect it.

Anybody can click a mouse to get here including catch & kill fishermen. At this point of my fishing days I will not even fish with someone who would kill a native trout. You can call me stuck up if you want but I reall don't care.

I have given most of my spots to folks from this forum personally for years just not brodcast on the interent.

I sincerely hope that things get fixed here so I can return.

Whaddya mean "goofball board". I think that was the reason I came here in the first place so many years ago. It wasn't a bunch of stuffed shirts and prima donnas like I had seen on other boards I tried to visit. It was FUN. Let me say that again. We were goofballs and it was FUN! YAY! So how's Brenda? Have you taken her out lately?

I'm not saying everything is peachy, but I'm also not saying this is the "end". It isn't. Maybe we are at a low ebb at the moment, but we'll fix the technology side of things and that will help. Many of the folks that have drifted away that I've talked to were/are frustrated with the technology. Technology can be fixed and we'll fix it. B-

Really? Granted I don't read every post, but this is the first i've heard of it. Can you expand on this. Tweak this format, or complete change.
