How many guides here on the board, and how do you back that (being a guide I mean) up?

Well, when folks visit Mendocino County and let me know they are coming I try to be available to guide them (on an unpaid basis) to:

1. Some really fine wine.

2. Some nice scenery and interest sites.

3. Some pretty darn good down home cooking at Chaise Lounge Schillinsky.

4. And, occasionally, if conditions are right, to some spectacular and not so spectacular fishing.

Does that count???????????

Hey Dries, I'm not sure I got the meaning of your post. What were you looking for as far as "how do you back that up"?

I have my bond in hand and my renewal sitting ready to go, so I'm not a licensed guide at the moment, but will be in a couple of weeks. My guiding is pretty much just for FOR donors who bid on things at auctions. I only was a full-time guide for a season and that was years and years ago.

I know there are several guides who have posted in the past and a few who are regular contributors.

Just trying to figure out how a guide in these days of flyfishing inflation, present himself to his clients. "I've got the bond etc," or "I have been ffing for ?? years, for ?? species" or all of the above.

Now I see what you mean.Part of it is to play up my overall ffing experience and part of it is to give a preview of the services that I provide(great lunch, instruction, tips on presentations, flies and so on).I do everything in my power to have the funnest time while with clients whether we are having luck or not.

I look forward to the day that I hang up the nailbags for good!
