Sounding better all the time!!! Now, all that needs to happen is all of that water that is currently gushing down the rivers recedes a bit before we get there. Flows on the Bitterroot are at near flood levels right now. Flows have quadrupled within the last 5 days! 28 days!!!!

It's snowing here 18 Years, 2 Months ago
The temp has dropped 40 degrees from yesterday. They now have river flood warnings until Saturday. Leave it to Montana for weather changes. Yesterday the Madison was lapping the banks up into the grass and was a bit dirty up fishing was awesome. Had one of my best days. Don't think anyone is out there today.

I remember when I lived in Bozeman we would hit the madison when people were saying it was "blown out" and do awesome. fish really concentrate near the edges and are actively feeding on all the bugs getting washed around. I remember fishing downstream from Lyons on one of those days and cathching more trout than I think I have ever caught in a couple hours.

28, oops I mean 27 days left!!! Listening to all of these sirens go by, a couple thousand teenagers going crazy on the last two weeks of school, giving finals to stressed out seniors, .....man I can't wait!!! The silence of a MT night is almost deafening!

Re:It's snowing here 18 Years, 2 Months ago
lol, I have to say you are right about the nights. BUT, just a few nights ago we heard a very strange sound outside that is hard to discribe. We both got kind of creeped out and got up to lock all of the doors. I finally came to the conclusion that it must have been the neighbors dog making a strange howl. That made me feel a little more comfortable so I am going to believe that.

So far the animals we have seen:
Heards of elk
Mountian goat...that was amazing
Big horn sheep
Wolf
3 moose
Lots of Canadian geese
Sandhill cranes
Lots of badger holes
A few eagles
Some Osprey fishing
No Bald Eagles yet but they are around most of the summer
Tons of fish

This has been an amazing week and I will be sad to leave on Saturday but at least I can look forward to being back in a couple of weeks. I love this place.

Woke up this morning to an inch of snow on the ground and it is snow pretty hard right now. Travel advisories and flood warning are up. Good thing we don't need to go anywhere for a while.

Re:It's snowing here 18 Years, 2 Months ago
Hopefully most of the water comes down during the next few weeks (selfish thinking on my part, I know). I actually have TWO scheduled trips to MT this year. (Gas prices are gonna kill me though ) I usually make it during the end of June through the first part of July with my fishing buddies. That is strictly a guys fishing trip. Still gonna do that this year and then return with my family the last part of July. It's gonna be great to get my 9 yr old son out and do spend some quality time with him on the water. Looking forward to the quiet nights, the wildlife, the fishing, the overall slow down in the pace of life......talking about this makes it hard to focus on my work right now. Only 27...I mean 26 days!!!!

Way cool Jan. What a great way to start off the Montana season! Congrats on the new rod as well, and glad that wrist is healing well enough to cast it!
