Eagle Lake Opener 18 Years, 2 Months ago  
Is anyone fishing Eagle Lake for the opener this weekend? I'll be up there after spending a small fortune on gas. If you go be sure to say hi if you see me. I'll be the fly fisher in a boat - Crestliner.

I'm staying in Stone's Landing and can probably be spotted in the evening sipping beer (or scotch) at the Mariner's Resort.

My understanding is the lake level is a bit low but I just read over on Val's site earlier this morning they saw fish working the surface between Shrimp Island and Eagles Nest in 53' of water - you just never know. She also mentioned that trophy trout will be planted over at Spalding just prior to the opener.

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.
