Fished south of Chico last night, had a golden hour and a half where I think I caught or at least hooked a fish on every cast. I caught some very large females too. BTW, foul hooking a large female shad in the tale can be quite a hoot. I swore I had a spring run salmon on for a few minutes.

I had a similar experience on the river last night. Maybe not as good as Saturday, but darn good.

But there was this: a little after six, the wind really started churning. Did you have that too?

It didn't seem to dramatically affect the bite, but it was hard on my already-challenged casting

Good old Rd. 48! Fine if you have a key, but just as good if you have a boat on the river -- I like to fish a little up from the gravel bar, and do well pretty much anywhere there is 9 or so feet of water to swing in

Joey and I would like to get into our first Shad. If anyone is going out in the next 3 days give us a shout. We are waiting on our 3 sets of Shad flies from the swap and I have a few more I tied 4 years ago.
