Ennis Lake ?? 18 Years, 2 Months ago
Anybody ever fished Ennis Lake??? Have a chance to fish it either mid June or end of June. Is earlier better than later? Is June too early in the first place? Any idea of what bugs are happening then? Any info much appreciated.

I fished it years ago Betty with a stellar lack of success. I would recommend the drive up to Quake Lake and the one above if you are interested in that. There are also some lakes in the hills between the Madison and Henry's Lake that can have some fantastic fishing that Carpy and I went to...although we didn't catch a lot we saw and caught a few hard fighters.

Thanks Charlie. The friends I will be with want to fish it. If I had my way, we would do Henry's lake instead. Maybe I can convince them.

I used to float The Channels (from Ennis to Ennis Lake) on a regular basis in the 70's, and had to row across Ennis Lake for the take out.
I would highly recommend "The Channels", but forget Ennis Lake.
Of course, that was land far, far, away, in a time very long ago----

The channels are still one of the better places to hunt big browns but that time looks to be the height of runoff and this year is going to be a big one. Everyone around here is kind of holding their breath to see what happens. Right now Hebgen, Quake and Henry's Lake are still frozen solid.

Thanks for that good information. Yes, it looks like a later year this year.
