Former staff at TU for over 5 years, here. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Perusing this post is giving me flashbacks and teasing my PTSD out of remission. I will save it though, in trying to explain to new friends, why I resigned from the "dream job"...and am now opening a wine business.

Re:Hey Dries, for those of us who don't know... 18 Years, 3 Months ago
bjorn and andrews explanations are good....

I myself have done a little volunteer work with some conservation groups, and gone to a few board meetings for my local resource conservation district (my moms been on the board for years)

so I know things arent always black and white, alot of special interests and alot of thought has to go into every decision, as you try to think of all the reprucussions.......

They are having this same argument on the bighorn right now, trying to increase the minimum flows, with senators even getting involved! Must be an election year!

now thats a river thats tailwater is managed for its fishery (well and those tourist dollars!)......

Wish I could. I know how many red wine fans will be there.

The real controversy here...I mean, travesty, is that I can't. It's go time, with a June set-up and a July opening, for the biz. The person I talked into quitting their job and moving here from out of state, to partner with me on this. I can't see them being completely enamored with my work ethic, if after 3000 miles in a u-haul they get a sign - gone fishing.

Here's another take 18 Years, 3 Months ago
If Cal Trout had stood up to the powers that be they could have raised more money then ever. They would have been able to say with integrity that they took the right stance and were fighting for our interests.

Instead they bought the ww interests line of crap and went along with the white water river raping of the NFF.

These brilliant fellows agreed to all of this with zero baseline data and even stated in a article about the process that the "NFF was a dead fishery".

This was most likely the dumdest thing any of them ever said. As we all know now the NFF is a gem that very few of us were aware of at the time with fishing every bit as good as the Upper Sac or Mc Cloud any given day.

Now even after the Garcia report which shows that up to 30% of the aquatic insects are killed during a ww release they still have their heads in the sand or so far up AWA's ass that their fragile little egos can't admit they are wrong.

With any moxi at all they could have made this fight one of their biggest fund raisers ever!

Why should I support a bunch of idiots like this?
