Buzz, you could have waited a day or two before outing him, just to see how many brookies he can catch. And SLO, this was a pretty weak troll. You can do better.

See, that was EXACTLY why I couldn't let Joe get away with it. It really was WAY below his capabilities. I did it for his own good, to help him improve.

Yeah, weak is right. That's about the worst troll SLO has ever done. The sig on the first thread gave it away. I was waiting to see how far it would get.

Hey Michelle, about your blog 18 Years, 2 Months ago
|
|
|
Hey, Michelle--first, I think it's flies for bait, though at first I read it as flies before 8, too. That aside...
I clicked on the link for your blog. As anybody who has participated in this board for the last few years would be I'm well-familiar with your great bug photos, which are awesome. I've got to say, though, that I'm equally impressed with your commercial work--the wedding photos, the lifestyle shoots. There's a quality, a way that you capture the personalities and emotions of the folks you're shooting, that is really impressive. I love photography, work for a book publisher that does quite a bit of photographic publishing, so I feel like I've earned my right to have an opinion. And my opinion is that you do great work.
By the way, I'm off to Memphis on Friday for a wedding, where I'll be meeting William Eggleston, whose daughter is marrying my nephew. Do you know his work?

Hiya Andrew!! I've been calling him that justfor fun for years, since that's how I first "saw" it, even though I now know better... Thanks for your kind comments -- I love 'lifestyle' photography a lot and spend hours with my clients and wind up really getting to know them. My style is pretty loose and I strongly discourage posing which is frankly a great relief to most people!
William Eggleston is pretty much of a photography legend!! That's amazing he'll be in your family! What photographer hasn't heard of him?!!
Speaking of bugs, I went on a rather protracted bug hunt this weekend and mean to post a bunch of shots here later since I haven't in a long time..
I hope to see you at the Bash???

I watched a documentary about Eggleston yesterday--Netflix online. He's a character, that's for sure.
I won't be at the Bash. I'm returning from a selling trip to LA late on the 13th, and I seem to find myself in the funny position of dating someone who lives in Seattle (too much information, I know), and she's coming in that night to spend the weekend with me in SF.
Post those new photos...

Hopefully I will get there. Last 3 years I have had car breakdowns on the way or had to work. So far this year, I don't have to work and I spent last weekend changing the raditor in my van that was dying to explode on the way up Hatchet Pass. Knock wood, I'll be there this year.

"Rivers course through my dreams, rivers cold and fast, rivers well-known and rivers nameless, rivers that seem like ribbons of blue water twisting through wide valleys, narrow rivers folded in layers of darkening shadow, rivers that have eroded down deep in a mountain's belly, sculpted the land, peeled back the planet's history exposing the texture of time itself."
— Harry Middleton (Rivers of Memory)
"Each night as I haul myself onto the back of county garbage truck no. 2, there is a familiar wind, some thread of moonglow or starlight, a splatter of dark rain on my skin, something that stirs my memory, and again, if even for a brief moment, I am on some mountain river, some stretch of bright water, full of possibilities, including the possibility of trout, perhaps one that, when hooked, will haul me in and out of time, in and out of life's mysterious and frightening, wondrous and incomprehensible continuum, even to the edges of the universe." -- Harry Middleton
