I've been meaning to put in a good word about the reel service I got from Ross recently.
I used my Rhythm 3.5 almost daily for three weeks in Baja, washing the reel and spools as often and as well as I could with the limited fresh water at some of my campsites. When I got back, the guts of the spools were so gunked up that two out of the the three I own wouldn't even snap on firmly to the reel.
I explained this through email to Ross, sent the reel and spools per their instructions, and after a week got the reel back through FedEx in prime shape. All for the grand total of free.
When I'm operating near home I'll follow their warm-water soak instructions to the letter, but we all know that this isn't always practical. In Alaska, it will be a cold-water cleaning. In Baja, it will be a quick splash from a jug of water that you need to conserve.
For now, I'm very glad I didn't have to go buy another reel, and very thankful to Ross for handling it quickly and gratis!
