Bit cold this morning but.......... 18 Years, 3 Months ago

This one rose to a Beeman ICS 400 with a Rage 3 bladed broadhead. Was at 22 feet and my cast was right on. It weighed in on a fishing digital scale at 22.5 lbs and had a beard a little over 10". Ran about 10 yards before giving up the ghost. All in all a very good morning.

Turkey hunting here I come. Picked up the archery equipment a few weeks ago. Just need to get this cast off and learn how to shoot. Next year I will be right with you Mom. Nice turkey!

Nice!
This morning, I was hiking along the very creek where the rainbow trout was named. I heard a tom, but never spied it. Last Sunday, I was lucky enough to hear and then spot two. 
I'm looking forward to fishing next month. It will be nice if you and Paul and Johnboy~ can make it.
Tomorrow, I'm going to attempt to tie up some Quigley midges cluster thingies.  |

Learn the definition of cold???? My son, you err. I lived in Munich for five years where I had to find my wife's car under the snow so I could dig it out for her to go to work. And that was before my morning 5 mile run/slide/fall.
I was also sent to Korea in winter from Vietnam in 1967 wearing only a set of khakis...now that was a jewels freezer.

Nice bird Charlie! Suggest taking the tail feathers and tying up 3 dozen Sawyers in size 16 and 18, then cook us a turkey BBQ at the Bash in June!
I'll understand if you only tie up 2 dozen!

I've never hunted turkeys with a bow. Just exactly how do you manage the effort?
Do you call them in and THEN draw the bow, or do you need to draw before they get within range so you don't spook them?
If it is the latter, it seems like your arms would get pretty sore, given how cautious toms are when you are calling them in...

Buzz: I use a ground blind which is just some good camo material that I have attached to 4' long sticks. I hammer them into the ground and have plenty of cover behind. When a tom comes to the decoy I stay still until he turns around in strut and then pull the bow, wait for him to turn sideways and then shoot. I have friends that use a special arrow head that will cut off the head of a tom but I'm not that confident in hitting right where I want with it at various ranges so I stick with a broadhead. Just takes lots of patience which I have learned from frustrating periods trying to get trout to eat my flies...there I made it ff related. LOL
