Anyone make it to Kiene's? I would have liked to but was, well, out on the water...

I made it to the expo and had a great time. My son took second place in the kids casting and won a Ross reel and Rio line. I placed 3rd and won a nice boat dry bag. Not too many ringers in the men's competition. My son hung out and watched Jay Murakoshi tie his multi-colored deer hair crank baits(CB Diver Fire Tiger). He gave one to Joey who said he would fish it and Jay was happy to hear he was going to use it. We ran into several NCFFB'rs, we saw Elrey and his wife Ann, Bluegrass Bill, Goofus bug and Newflyladybug or Dennis and Jan. We tried all the new rods that we can't afford. I tried the Orvis Helios mid flex, Sage Z-axis and the Winston BIIx. The Winston is the one that stole my heart. After the show we had a little BBQ at Dennis and Jan's place. It turned out to a pretty darn good day.

Thanks Bill for putting on the Expo and offering up such generous prizes.

Tight Lines,

Jet

Hey Joe, you mentioned the Winston BIIx. I bought the 9' 6 wgt last year, and it's my go-to rod on the Yuba. I love it. It's a lot faster than the Scott G2, but perfect for long casts in the wind.

Recently, there was discussion about the Winston DL4. I've had one for several years now, a 9' 4 wgt, and it's my rod of choice for smaller water like the LT. I've also used it successfully on the Yuba, too--before I got the BIIx.

Good seeing you and Joey again. And congrats on your winnings. I'm sure we'll meet up on the river sometime soon.

Cheers,
El Rey

Hey Joe,

Thanks for that phone call about me winning that prize in the raffle they had at Kiene's expo Saturday! That just topped off a great day I had there. I dropped by the next day and picked it up, a very nice Sims waterproof boat bag . I gave it to my wife as it looks like a perfect camera bag and I actually have a pretty good dry bag for my fishing. I definitely scored some points with that decision . She loved it !

Congrats to you and your son for your winnings there as well ! It was a fun day .

Best Wishes!

Bill
