Hi all, I was thinking of going to the Y on Saturday but with this cold front coming in, do you think it will put the fish down? Thanks

It's the Y! You never know what you're going to get. So just go out and have some fun. I would join you but I think I'm going to the Kiene expo. If the front knocks the bugs down try fishing a streamer. I hear some guys do well streamer fishing. Just remember weather its Fly Fishing or Not it's still Fishing.

Thanks Joe. Yes it is the Y, so you never know. I've always heard/read that if you time it just right, or wrong, fish develop lock jaw during cold fronts. Still not sure I'm going. If I don't go, I might see you at Kienes.

The cold front will definitely NOT slow down the fishing. It may affect the bite but not the fishing at all. Get out and go while you have the chance. You may even get lucky and snag a fish.

Thansk Charlie. You're right it would still be fishing, but now they're calling for 25mph winds. So, not even the fishing sounds like fun now.

Yes, the wind can get annoying. 25 mph...hmmmm, stand up wind and just lift your rod, feed line until your fly is right over the fish's lie and then gently lower the rod? Or, stay home, mow the lawn, wash the car, clean out the garage? The second choice provides you the chance to build up points for the next time you want to get out...speaking from experience of course!!!

I can't be sure. but I think it was Robert Travers (? seems wrong) who said:
The best weather to go fishing in is the weather the day you have time to go fishing.
Tomorrow may never come. Almost no one says as his (or her) last words: " I wish I had spent more time cutting the lawn."

What about the full moon.... 18 Years, 3 Months ago

The cold front, 25 mph winds, or full moon be damned....I drove up to fish and I'm going to. I'll be on the Marysville side of the river in the morning...thought I might try the Feather in the afternoon. If you see the silver Tundra, that's me!!

I've had some terrific catching during the full moon, and some awful catching too. Same with sunny days and cloudy days.
Like everyone else is advising, go when you can. I do hate fishing in the wind, though, if it's too high. It just saps all the energy from your body.

A strong casting arm and a room temperature IQ.

Call me a wuss. High winds, cold front, full moon, the usually finicky Y...I'm staying home. Well actually I'll be going for a motorcycle ride.

Dress for the cold, watch out for those gusts and especially those crazy auto drivers...it's a full moon, y'know!
P.S. You're a wuss!
