Midge video 18 Years, 3 Months ago
Been trying to add this clip to the video section of the board. It seems like everything is okay, but it never shows up. Until then check this out

http://youtube.com/watch?v=NGQEPZqNZU8

I figured that someone much smarter than me would have figured out how to make an inverted midge emerger by now. Keep trying - the world needs one!

Pretty cool. Can't think of a way to emulate that shape.

No doubt someone will eventually...

Very cool Ralph! Looks like I need to design a snow cone marabou midge pupa emerger!

Very cool video! Thanks for posting that. Watching the video, I could see why a snow cone midge would be so successful. Fish sure seemed to like them at Pyramid this last month.

Hey Ralph,
Have you seen Roy Christie's Avon Special Emerger?

(edit: I see your response at that other place)

Ralph, so what do think about that pattern? Would a straight shanked hook work better or??? Your thoughts, por favor. Thanks in advance.

Dang that's nice too... making me rethink my reluctance to use flies that have CDC as the primary floatant.

I fished something like the first one on one of the Stampede legs today, but only managed some ice in the guides

On a side note, I tie your E/C in small sizes Christie style (less fidgity with the hackle away from the eye). Works great. Of course I have to take a sip of tequila and run the tippet through my mouth to make it sink

Roy Christie is an amazing tier out of the UK. Both of his buzzer patterns look great. Though I don't normally care to fish a curved shank (lots of dropped fish), for this imitation it certainly adds that final touch of realism.
