not really...sort of like putting a michell 300 on a fly rod and fishing for shad with lead head jigs..

So long as you use one of those clear plastic bubbles and attach a fly to the end of the line...or is that "fishing the fly" rather than "fly fishing?"

Well,, They use bobbers and by your definition that's not fly fishing. No need to look at the reel and line.

Interesting. I had never heard of it and just did a bit of googling. No, I'd say it was "Center Pinning" and not fly fishing. Nothing wrong with that, seems very similar to fly fishing and an interesting way to fish.

Most of the folks I know that fish Centerpin are really into numbers on steelhead.

And you call fishing with 16th oz jigs and the biggest strike indicator you can find flyfishing.

Jigs ain't flies.

You have to split the jig head in half and push those halves to either side. Then they become dumbell eyes.

Now, THAT's fly fishing. Sheesh. Don't you know nuthin?
