Yes. Very nice stream. Beautiful part of the state. Very accessible. Lots of other nice small streams to fish in the general vicinity.

Is this time of the year (March) a good time to go to the North Yuba?

Just checked to be sure I was right about this. North Fork Yuba is not open until general trout season, last Saturday in April.

Better check those regs again as the N Fork Yuba is open year round with artificial zero kill regs during the winter. As far as fishing it right now my guess it is running high with all of the low elevation snow runoff.Call Bassetts Station for up to date info.

Yes it is open at this time. I just did not know if it would be to high and off color at this time. I'll call Tony at the fly shop in Nevada City.

NF is open. The river is jade green, flows are quite fishable, and the water temp is 43. If the air temps rise or it starts to rain on the snowpack, the water will dirty up. Some March browns, baetis and midges in the lower reaches above Bullards. . . maybe higher but I haven't fished that. Catching has been slow.

Thanks for all the info. That's the reason I joined this site. I think I'll try the NF next week and let everyone know how it went.

Hey Ralph, I believe you. I checked the DFG regs and was sure I'd read it right. Was it one of the streams that was converted to year round or was I looking at a different section of the North Fork?

Actually, here are the regs. I see my mistake, just a seasonal tackle restriction.
