Indicator help 18 Years, 1 Month ago
I watched a fly fishing program called The New Flyfisherman. They were fishing a lake in BC
and using a small indicator that appeared to have some sort of a peg that stayed on the leader, but the indicator slid down to the hook when reeling in a fish which allowed you to reach the fish when fishing from boat, etc and using several feet of leader tippet to get down to the zone in lake fishing.Right now I use BioStrike in this situation because it will pop off leader at rod tip allowing me to reach the fish. But , even though in it biodegradeable, I usually feel guilty seeing the bio strike blob floating off.
I have searched and searched. Don't know what it is called but thought someone out there might know where I can obtain some.

Janet,

They are called slip strike indicators. I have used this indicator a couple of times when fishing nymphs deep. I have a couple that were given to me but the only place I have ever seen them for sale is flydesk.com

The Troutfitter in Mammoth Lakes featured these a couple months ago on their fishing report. So, I guess they must sell them.

Also, believe it or not, I found them for sale at WalMart---pretty cheap version in that the paint wears off in no time, but they are the definitely the quick release type.
