Deer Creek Report.. 18 Years, 1 Month ago
They opened Hyw 32 yesterday just in time for meeting up in Susanville. Going up Deer Creek canyon was very smokey. The creek looked in pretty good condition considering all of debris and ash that has fallen. There was hot spot smoldering and on the way home a CDF crew was just pulling up to check out the situation. I did see folks fishing at the first bridge west of the meadow.

You could see where many large trees were cut down in an attempt to creat a firebreak. You could see the stups, but no trees. They must have spent the last few days just clearing up the trees and other brush that was cut. It appeared to my uneducated eye that the fire mainly burned the underbrush and did not do all that much damage to the trees.

Soon as the smoke clears up some I'll drive up and wet a line.
