High School fly fishing club outing 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Several folks on this board made generous donations to get our Clovis West Fly Fishing Club started last year. I just thought I'd post a few pics from one of our outings and show you some of the results. We have gotten several kids hooked (pun definately intended). In fact, one of the students just received waders and boots at school today that he had ordered. A couple of them are already making summer plans for fishing trips. The kids are beginning to tie their own flies and some are casting better than their instructors!
Many thanks goes to those who donated (too many to mention). I just wanted to express my gratitude and to let you know that you have helped to make a difference in some of these young folks lives.

There was supposed to be another pic included....not sure why it didn't come through. It was a nice shot of a student holding a golden fish with huge lips on it's underside!

We've also hooked up with Fish and Game to raise some trout in the classroom. The kids come in to check on their young'ns a couple of times a week. We're getting close to the release date for the fish. Too bad I don't have an aquarium with a refrigeration unit at home!! I could grow me a couple of trophies and put them in a small creek that nobody knew about and...........

Here's a shot of the little ones:

Not only can they cast better than you, they're catching bigger fish than you! I think I recognize that fish.

Great job Grady.

Great job. Next they will be wanting a school outing to Montana. Speaking of which, when are you going to come by and visit us?

Jan,
Funny you should mention that! Two of the kids are already planning their senior trip to MT next summer! They kept drooling over all of our photos of Darren's and my trips there. Speaking of Darren (the other fly fishing club advisor) he rented the place right nextdoor to yours two summers ago.

This summer I may have a full house. I'm not sure if you want all 4 of us fellas to show up at your place! Usually it's only two of us, but this year the fuel bill will need to be divided up into smaller pieces.

We should be in MT around the 19th of June thru the 28th. Maybe we can work a trip over to the Madison into our schedule!! Will you folks be there then?

Chris

They're getting close but not close enough!! They started a tally chart on our board so they could keep track of the numbers of fish caught on our outings. I still own the biggest fish caught record though! By the way, I'm gonna send you a p.m.

Looks like we will only overlap on the 19th and the 20th unless my work schedule changes. The way things look right now that may be the height of the runoff on the Madison and we all know you can't catch any fish during runoff. You are all welcome to drop by if you are in the area. We can sit back and enjoy a few

That's too bad that we probably won't hookup again this year. We'll more than likely spend the first few days opening up my grandfather's place in the Bitterroot. We'll need a few days to mow, mend fences and basically take care of any other items that have happened over the winter. We always manage to work that stuff into our busy fishing schedules during the day!

I've still got an itch to get over to the Madison this summer though. Maybe towards the end of the month as the water begins to come down.
