Lower Sac partial closure - effective NOW 17 Years, 6 Months ago
It is now official. The river hit 7,000 cfs yesterday, which means that floating from "Posse Grounds" down to Bonneyview Rd. is no longer an option. This section will remain closed to all drifters until sometime in September when the flows come back down below 7k.

Fishing has been up and down this week with the fluctuation in water levels, which is normal. As soon as the flows stabilize for 4-5 days, fishing usually picks up nicely.

Those upper river fish should be seeing little or no pressure this summer. (until I get out the jet boat !!)

For more information about floating or jet boating the Lower Sac, see my bio.
(couldn't resist )

So far, I have not seen anything stating otherwise.
They have closed "passage under the bridge", not the actual launch ramp a couple miles upriver from said bridge. (as far as I know...will check it today)

Well, he's got more class than a guy who would say, "...buy books my company sells..."

Yeah, can such a closure really be total? What if someone in a whitewater kayak feels like heading down from Posse Grounds? And, like, if he has a nymphing rig on board, who's going to stop him -- would it be a DFG rule or some other authority?

I'm eager to hear the details. Some folks have told me that certain sections fish even better at flows as high as 10K, which stands to reason -- the fish have to get their dinner somewhere.

Hey, you guys are opening a branch in my neighborhood. What's up with that? AAA storefronts in Noe Valley? Jeez, I wanted a by-the-slice NY style pizza place.

And buy books my company publishes.

The Shasta County Sheriff might chew you out. You better go have a look from shore before you commit. I'm told the clearance will get down to 3' or less in the vertical direction. I hear it's a bumpy ride in amongst the piles now.
