Corvina to the fly 17 Years, 6 Months ago
I haven't posted about my Baja fishing here because it has mostly been NFF -- dragging around plugs behind my kayak and having a grand time at it

But on my recent trip, I discovered that corvina are a fly-fisher's fish. Or, they are when they storm into shallow water on the tide and mill around like thousands of mackerel that look and fight more like cohos . . . I got them on clousers

and whistlers

and pretty much had fish-a-cast action that wore out my shoulders over a few days. Not bad!!!

The other fish that was fly-friendly were tiny little roosterfish that kept swarming by my beach camp. I'd sip my coffee until they came in range, and then trot down to strip a fly in front of the boils. No size for me, but pretty as hell and a sure way to motivate another trip down at peak roosting time

Hm, the picture thing didn't work . . .

You used to be able to do a

<img src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_eNTw1uM_Flw/R_lH3VLxjoI/AAAAAAAAAg4/DdfnLzAst-Y/s1600-h/lilrooster.jpg" />

but I tried the square bracket thing and it didn't work . . .

How about just, "these are corvina on clousers and whistlers"

Pit Boss,

Nice pictures. One of these days I gotta break down and do the salt!

Posting pictures is a lot easier than before. Up above the message is a series of buttons. Tap on the Img button and it will add a command:

[/img]

If your image is bigger than 150, just eliminate the size=150 part of the code. Drop in the URL of the image in between the two commands, and bingo, your image is attached! You can add multiple images using the button above. Alternatively, down below is a Browse Button, with the words "Select an image to attach. Tap on the browse button and you can upload an image from your computer. You're limited to one image following this method.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

OK, my problem must be the size attribute . . . (warning: that comment is not safe to make around a real campfire with the Kanektok Klan).

Is there a way to just remove that attribute from the tag? If you set the default to 499, will it always work with smaller photos?

Anyway, thanks for the pointer

Great Report, Sure can see why they Call them "Orange Mouth". I used to have a great time with them on the Salton Sea in the late Sixties 68&69. They would school by the thousands and bust the surface chasing the gulf Croaker that were also transplanted there. Kinda like chasing stripers on New Hogan Reservoir. They were sooo good to eat, one of my favorites.

Ha! If you're serious, I'll get a trailer hitch installed on the truck and we can head down the day after tomorrow. The "Trout Hound" would be just the thing to get even with those damned grouper and pargo . . .

Hey Windknots, your picture is a classic! Really nice fish. Wonder if any of that action is still going on at Salton Sea.
