Fly fishing story!!! 17 Years, 6 Months ago
I thought it was time for a little fun. Saw is on another board.

Let's make up a fly fishing story a few lines at a time. Here goes!

She had her favorite rod rigged up and was watching for any activity on the water. It had been almost 7 months since she had seen this river and things looked in great shape for a good day of fishing.

She had missed the rivers and the sublte rise of a trout to a mayfly during the seven months that she had been held captive by the aliens from Planet Zenu. With all their advanced technology, they knew nothing of trout fishing.

But the aliens did leave her with a special gift. She was able to think like an alien, who, it turns out, are closely related genetically to mayflies. With this new special talent she.............

I live in the city, but don't fit in,
You know it's a pity the shape I'm in.
Well, I've got no home, and I've got no choice,
Oh Lord have mercy on a country boy!

"The Emerger" they called her because she was so tricky to catch... standard tactics would never work.

Re:Fly fishing story!!! 17 Years, 6 Months ago
The Emerger felt 'called' to the river, due to some inexplicable instinct that she inherited from her alien captors. She tied up some patterns, which looked remarkably like some of the beings she'd been with the past seven months. She tied on a fly, made a few false casts and then...

hooked up high and dry on the last backcast- awk! The dreaded permanent outdoor xmas tree traditionally found streamside and decorated by every angler lacking eyes in the back of their head and no real lateral movement in their upper torso or neck. Probably the same folks that would cut you off in traffic- it was always because they were too lazy to check their blindspot. But it provided time to practice her knot tying skills as well as slow down and notice a change of activity on the water where. . .

A feeling of dread washed over her. Panic overpowered the mind. The water erupted and suddenly all was black................

Abducted again!!! This time by another type of "alien". She felt that perhaps this was the end, that somehow this had been the last streamside experience she would have. But then...

she looked closer and realized she had just been attacked by the largest brown trout she had ever seen! It was hauling her to the bottom of the river clenching her with it's teeth so she couldn't wriggle loose, when all of a sudden......

. . . when all of a sudden the force of the hook set reversed the brown trouts descent. It was so violent that the brown trout's lip darn near as I could tell became separated from its hinges. The immediate tightness across her chest, she found herself lashed to a large hook with thread and dressed just in feathers and fur all the while in the grips of the huge brown trout. Lucky for her she hadn't been created at tying bench of either Barr or Mercer for the bead head alone would hurt, not to mention the epoxy across her shoulder blades. Were those aliens just jerking her around or was it intended for the reader as well? Was this the parallel world we had often read about in Ray Bradbury's short stories or just. . .

(too weird for me)
