I ventured over to the East side earlier this week for a bit of fishing (and catching)!
Mono Lake looking as tranquil as I have ever seen it.
Only three rainbows, the rest were browns. Here is one of the former.
Compare the spotting pattern on this brown
to the pattern on this one. It almost looks like another specie, huh?
A shot with my underwater case. This was rather uncomfortable to hold this for the shot, as the water was a balmy 34 degrees in the morning when I started fishing. It didnt seem to matter to the trout, who were on the bite all three days.
Some cool clouds along Wheeler Ridge
I had this well-known hot spring to myself, which is to say, if you know this place, is a very rare occurrence.
Perhaps the lack of visitors to the spring was due to the snow on the road in. Perhaps the spring was hippie-proof because hippies dont usually have 4WD. What the snow lacked in depth, it side made up for it in slipperiness.
All in all it was a good trip, nice weather, plenty of trout, beautiful scenery, and a warming soak in natures hot tub. A bonus is that most of the fish were caught on flies that I had tied, which is something I am still learning about (slowly!), but this was a nice boost of confidence.
Cheers!
