Lost Rod - Yuba River 17 Years, 8 Months ago
Hello all... so... I didn't break a rod, but I did leave it at take out on the Yuba today... Sycamore Ranch... it's a Sage RPL+ 5 wt... has a Kauai sticker on it... if found, I'd apprecaite it back.

As for the fishing... it doesn't happen often, so I can't complain too much, but I got skunked today... just could not dial it in... not a fish bumped... have no idea what was going on... only the second time I've fished the Y... some days you just can't hit the target.

yeah... pretty much... there were two sage rod cases... one made it in the truck, the other must have blended into the ground too well to spot...

Bummer about the rods...

Hey I remember the first time you fished the Y. The Yuba Bash! You said something about, "its not pocket water."

That was the last time I had fished it... since then I've expanded my game, but yesterday was just poor fishing on my part... it makes you really question yourself... I tried a lot of different flies and was putting the flies in places that I would think I'd catch fish on a river like the Lower Sac, but it just didn't happen... I think maybe I wasn't fishing deep enough, but the longer the leader and more weight you put on, the less realistic the presentation and harder it is to detect strikes. Oh well... sometimes you just can't put it together.

C'est la vie.

Rod NOT Lost! 17 Years, 8 Months ago
Ah ha... the friend I fished with had an epiphany last night and this morning he went out and checked his raft, which we had rolled up... there, under a thwart was my rod... NICE!

I got all excited just thinking about how happy you must have been. I know how great I would have felt finding a nice rod I thought was lost. Nice work!!

Dang! And I spent two hours last night scouring Sycamore for my, er, your rod.

My buddy and I 'tooned it Sunday, and couldn't buy a nibble. The folks we talked to fared about as well, hooking only a fish or two, or none. Lovely day to get skunked, though. Monday was even more crowded, so we just bagged it. Eventually we found our way to Woodland, stopped at Ludy's, and scarfed down a bunch of ribs.

Yeah, it was tough... I saw a couple of fish landed and at take out there was a guy saying he had just caught a big one. After being on the Madison this summer when so many of the neighboring rivers were closed, it will take a lot for me to consider something crowded... sure, there were some folks out, but in comparison to that... it was empty.

Still, it holds true that a bad day of fishing is better than a good day working... Thanks dead Presidents!
