AEG Fly Fishing Film Tour 17 Years, 8 Months ago
Last night I drove to Sacramento to see the AEG fly fishing film tour. The place was bout 50% full which was definitely much better that the 30 or more people who were at San Mateo College last year for the 1st annual showing in Sacramento.

The film was in in San Franciso on last Tuesday at the Palace of Fine Arts. Since I work in Concord and live in Oakland, I wasn't willing to brave that traffic to see if on a work night.

The film tour shows little slice of upcoming flyfishing DVD's. I especially enjoyed the film slice on Mongolia and on steelheading.

This film tour will be in Healdsburg for 2 showing today, Feb 9. If you get a chance, definitely attend this. Schedule is below.

Good Stuff If Ya Like Fish Porn :P: 17 Years, 8 Months ago
The AEG tour is great if you're only interested in fish porn. But for me, I don't want to see endless clips of "Billy-Bob" goin' fishin (get's boring fast if I'm not the guy on the end of the rod! ) and would really like to see some true content and information presented. Just like a XXX dirty movies, lotsa action but not much substance! And yes, I actually buy Playboy to read the articles!

Hi Loretta-
You were a couple of rows below us, but when we went to say hi you had vanished. A belated "hi!"
I really liked the focus on Pebble. Hopefully it will strike a nerve with some of the right people and we can get some traction on that ugly thing. I don't know how AEG can keep their heads above water. It's hard to believe that they broke even last night and most of their venues don't look much better. It seemed the target audience was a couple decades younger than most of the people in the audience. That said, I enjoyed the event and it was worth the $15.00. I talked with a couple dozen show goers at the brewery before the presentation and only 1 out of 4 was a fly fisher. Maybe AEG should be targeting a wider base.

Ralph,

Sorry that MaryAnn and I missed you. It was MA's first time at the film tour and she enjoyed it. I agree with you about them probably not breaking even. It will be interesting since they are doing 2 showings in Healdburg, how that attendance it. Todat is the steelhead festival in Healdsburg.

I really liked the emphasis on Pebble Mine because the film conveyed how beautiful the area is and how many living things depend on the salmon.

I can't wait! I am planning on going to see it here in Bozeman on Feb. 25th with my son. I guarantee that the theater here in Bozeman will be packed. Last year it was sold out here.

I really wanted to go, but had plans on Friday night and couldn't make it down there... having only one day in Sacramento was less than ruling for me... but I guess if they aren't packing them in to begin with, they really couldn't do a second day.
