i own three st croix rods. i have an scIII 4wt and 2 scIV blanks (2wt and 5wt). the elites are the scV blanks-don't have one of those but the scIIIs and scIVs are awesome. the scIII balnks are affordable and perform great. a good all around rod. the scIVs have that little extra performance for the size. I could only assume the Vs are a great buy as well.

I have two St. Croix Legend Elite's: 1) factory built Legend Elite 9-foot 5wt; and 2) a custom Built SCIV (Legend Elite Blank) in a 9-foot 8wt. Both rods are extremley fast and can throw a lot of line. I used the 5wt for medium sized creek fishing, but it has proven to be a little stiff to lay out decent roll casts. I now use the rod for lake fishing where distance casting is more important than roll casting. The only gripe I had about the 5wt is it came from the factory with some epoxy sloped on the reel seat and one of the guides. The epoxy was easily removed, but I felt there should have been some better quality control. The 8wt is my Steelhead rod and its a cannon, whether throwing a heavy sink tip or lighter WF-F. Here is a link to a rod review, including the Legend Elite 8-weight:
