This reports a failure by the seller to ship an item after receiving payment from Paypal, sent by me.

Very nice pair. Teton Steelhead 7 weight fly reel with extra spool. The mounted spool has backing and fly line. I bought these for a fishing trip that didn't happen. The line has been added but these have never seen the stream. Happy bidding.

I Paypal'd the price within two hours of the bid closing and me "winning" the reel.

On 4 January, I received the following message from the seller:

"Dear epkelleher,

Hello: Thank you very much for your winning bid and payment. I have just completed my Holiday travels and I will begin shipping tomorrow (1/4/2011). Your item will be among the first that I ship.
Thank you for your patience and I hope that you had a very good Christmas and New Years...
Andre LaFond"

I have sent three messages through E Bay to the seller, and have received neither a response nor the item.

It is now 25 Jan 2011, three weeks after earlier estimated delivery date. Priority mail is NOT that slow.

I have opened a Complaint and request for refund through E Bay.

Caveat Emptor.

You should open a dispute with Paypal too. Give him both barrels. The reel may also have gotten lost in the mail. I bought something off ebay once that got lost. I ended up letting the gal off the hook but it was something cheap, can't remember now. 10 bucks or something. I hate when they won't respond to messages though. Stuff happends, we're all reasonable people, sheesh.. answer the friggen message and try and solve the problem.

Hell yes!! If he had just answered the emails, he could have put me off for quite a while. but nooooo he has to ignore my emails and piss me off.

I will surely open a complaint with Paypal as well.

Well, the seller finally shipped the Teton reel on 28 Jan, 23 days after the estimated delivery date. It arrived on 31 Jan, 26 days after the estimated delivery date. I did get an eBay message giving me the delivery confirmation number, which finally worked starting Sunday. I also got an offer for a refund, but I decided to wait and see the reel. The reel is okay, the spare spool fits, but is a later manufacture than the reel. The line is a light olive, probably a 7 wt, although I’ll weigh it to be sure.

I closed the complaint.

Not the type of effortless transaction I have come to expect on e bay.
