...parts arrived and he couldn't wait to start building. 8' 4-5wt 4pc Sevier blank, uplocking black anodized reel seat w/ birdseye maple insert, traditional snake guides.

Attached pic shows him shaping the grip...

Looks like a well-equipped shop. But no safety glasses? Not good.

Otherwise, glad to see he's so into it.

I guess cork dust didn't seem too threatening... but you're right, can't tell what might go wrong when using power tools.

Grip came out pretty nice, kind of a modified Wells with burnt cork accents top and bottom. Might start wrapping tomorrow.
