The Fall/Winter edition of the Drake Magazine has an article on the Seven Sins of Flyfishing....Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Envy, Pride, Wrath and Lust. It is a great article, and really hits the nail on the head. Today we fished the Crooked River, and it was definitely Gluttony, Wow, what a day of catching. The Whitefish have just begun to spawn, and drifting a small yellow egg through the runs showed the gluttony of fish......and fisherman. The rainbows are stacked up below the whitefish and are gourging on the eggs released into the river. Terry and I caught way too may fish drifting egg patterns through several runs along the river. Nothing large....maybe 16 inches tops, and most were 8-12 inches, but what a hoot. Several times I stood in the same place and hooked and landed double digit numbers before taking a step downriver. Returned to Sunriver this afternoon and had a nice duck dinner, a couple good bottles of wine, and soon, off to bed to dream about a fish every cast.
Here's a pic of Terry with a typical rainbow from today:
