Passing of an original NCFFB Basher 15 Years, 11 Months ago
|
|
It is with much sadness that I announce the passing away of Sade, one of the 13 original bashers (Bash I was at Lake Siskyous). Sade suffered some serious health issues this week and Pat and I thought it was best for her to be put to sleep. So yesterday I did the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
Sade walked into my life over 14 years ago when some students brought this stray into my classroom before school. I fell in love right there. Before Pat, she was my fishing companion and fished the T, the Y, Stanislaus, the Lower Sac, the Upper Sac, and the Tuloumme with me. Now she will get to play again with Jake and other NCFFB dogs that have left us.
She will be greatly missed.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Dogs are a member of one's family and it hurts just as much when you lose them. I've been there and it isn't fun. My condolences.

"Rivers course through my dreams, rivers cold and fast, rivers well-known and rivers nameless, rivers that seem like ribbons of blue water twisting through wide valleys, narrow rivers folded in layers of darkening shadow, rivers that have eroded down deep in a mountain's belly, sculpted the land, peeled back the planet's history exposing the texture of time itself."
— Harry Middleton (Rivers of Memory)
"Each night as I haul myself onto the back of county garbage truck no. 2, there is a familiar wind, some thread of moonglow or starlight, a splatter of dark rain on my skin, something that stirs my memory, and again, if even for a brief moment, I am on some mountain river, some stretch of bright water, full of possibilities, including the possibility of trout, perhaps one that, when hooked, will haul me in and out of time, in and out of life's mysterious and frightening, wondrous and incomprehensible continuum, even to the edges of the universe." -- Harry Middleton

Sorry to hear about Sade, John.
I had to put down my 14 year old chessie, Jake, a couple years ago. It sucked for me, too.
About a year or so later we rescued two lap dogs. They aren't the same as a big retreiver, but they definitly have their merrits. In fact, just yesterday we brought home a third.
Once again, sorry to hear about your loss. Give my best to Pat.

Sorry to hear of your loss of Sade John. Nancy and I are facing that day soon, as our Golden Retriever, Mandie is 13 and getting very crippled with age. I dread the day.

Hey John, Sorry for your loss. I remember Sade from that first Bash, back when things were less complicated, on so many fronts.
My most sincere condolences.

My prayers are with you, Pat and your other dog. Know that Sade, Pete, Dinah and all the NCFFB's members dogs are having a ball in heaven telling fly fishing tall tales.
