B.C. Road trip or another steelhead river? 15 Years, 12 Months ago
|
|
Hey guys,
I'm not working and I keep getting the itch for steelhead fishing. Love to pull the spey rod out. It will be a few months before things pick up around NorCal and with my luck, I'll be working by then. Anyone interested in a road trip? I was thinking B.C., only because I know the fish are running up there this time of year. Lodges are too expensive for me since I'm not working. Hence, the road trip with camping or motels seems like the best option.
Send me an email if interested....or feel free to let me know where I can catch some fish closer to home.
Thx
~Brett

I would consider one of the columbia River tribs. The steelhead counts are about twice what they normally are and You wont have to pay as much for liscences. Plus you can drive all the way up to the smither area and all the rivers are blown. That won't happen on the columbia.

I'm just back from the lower Deschutes and the river is FULL of fresh steelhead. Forget BC, the long distance and do like Fishhawk said. Plenty of public access above and below Maupin, OR, plus many other rivers that are also producing well.
