Upper sac this week? 16 Years ago
|
|
I'll be on the upper Sac late this week and I'm looking for advice on this river that I've never really done very well on. I keep hearing about great and large fish but have always found it tough.
I know the some/many of accesses pretty well for a non-local.
Can anyone tell me;
1) which accesses would serve best
2) bugs and methods?
Also, for those in the know;
- How's the lower McCloud looking/fishing?
- Is it too early to check out the Trinity?
Thanks all in advance........Hookups welcome. I'l probably stay a few nights in Mt. Shasta, and a few in Burney, might catch the lower sac too depending on conditions. Be there 9/17 through 9/23. PM for cell #.

This is a nice time of year to fish the river. If it were me I'd fish a fox squirrel and a PT or Dark Lord. Drift that thru the oxygenated water and wait for a strike.
Access sites vary by person. I prefer the lower ones while others like the higher. Choose whichever one you are familiar/comfortable with and fish with confidence.

Throw a Possie Bugger#12 , amber prince #16, Micro May Olive #18 and Yellow Stimulators.
Use more weight, AB or even a AAA
Good luck
