went down to 2 mile bar yesterday morning, late. Nobody there, no risers, overcast, windy, very clear water @ about 200 - 250cfs I would guess, no bug activity to speak of other than dozens of hungry dragonflies. Caught joe avrage trout nymphing on the third drift using a GRHE under a pink dirty worm. Stuck with that setup and hit the spots. Not much action other than in the first riffle as you walk in. Saw several smaller fish scooting about but no bigger ones and no salmon yet. Prolly fished 6x for about three hours. Pulled one out from under a sweeper by sticking my rod tip down under the bush with about two feet of line out...wiggled it around and whammo. Bow River bugger strikes again!
Since I was already 1/3 of the way to Modesto, I went on down to visit Bob N. @ Sierra Anglers Fly Shop. Big selection of fly fishing items. (hi Bob! thanks for the cardboard tube) Cheapest gas = USA in Oakdale on west F St. & S. Gilbert St.(main drag) $2.79 unl.....$2.99 diesel...best mexican food @ La Perla Tapatia in Riverbank.
