I just don't like loop to loop connections. I think they're weak.
Two years ago I lost 2 hot kings when the loops broke, not the knot but the area where the loops interlocked. I was using either 15# or 20# line.
If you want to try tippet rings, I can send you a couple. Let me know.
Also, can you loop to loop mono and flouro without losing strength? Does the flouro cut into the mono?
I do use loop to loop when connecting a leader to the 30# mono loop I've nail knotted to my fly line. No problems there, but there's a lot of stretch between the loops and the end of my tippet.
