Due to work, wife's health issues, ect. I haven't fished much this year. I live about 5 minutes away from the Middletown section of Putah Creek. The summer smallmouth fishing isn't great, but worth travelling 5 minutes for. So I hadn't fished there in about 4 years. The latest issue of California Flyfisher came in the mail a few days ago. Half way through it I put it down, grabbed my 4wt, and fished Putah for an hour. I went back today for another hour. In those 2 hours I probably landed 20 bass from 6" to 10". I live 5 minutes away and hadn't fished there in 4 years! I hereby promise you the reader and myself that even if I can't (or won't) find the time to do any other fishing this summer, I will spend an hour or two 5 minutes from my house with a rod in my hand. Now if you will excuse me, I have some flies to tie. Mike
