Hello all! The steelhead are here! I got a report today from a local guy that floated the low flow in a kayak yesterday and he said that the salmon are spawning on the entire stretch from hwy 162 to the outlet. (Better than the report that i got from the keeper of the light two weeks ago), eh Willie? Personally,I've been hooking an average of two fish each outing that are between 2-3 pounds, mostly on small nymphs and 6mm eggs. 4x,5X get more grabs but will donate many rigs to fowl hooked Kings. Trout beads are working if you use them pegged to the hook w/toothpick.
Fish shallow early and below the ledges later.
Eat, Sleep,Hunt, Fish. repeat!
That's my program on my days off at Huntington's! I come home from work, eat dinner,go to bed,get up at 5am, watch the buck trail,( no shooters yet ) walk to the riffle to fish, then home for lunch, a siesta, then back to the river with both sticks,- fire and the long rod.
Dontcha love Fall and Harvest time?! YUM! Oh and I got in on the Coho's on Oroville, they sure smoke up good! Enjoy! CB
Get Out there!
