I know you CHP guys have a hard job and have to prioritize the crimes
Whoa, I'm not a cop. You may be thinking of Road Dog? Anyway, next time you're in the DMV ask how long it takes to get your tags in the mail. I think they'll tell you 4-6 weeks and that's if you pay for them at the DMV. If you send them a check you can add to that the time it takes to get to the DMV which could add another week to it. So, even if they "got their junk together" and paid it 5 weeks before they expired there's still a chance that they haven't received them yet. I think it might be a little early to hang the Feb's.(or the Jan's for that matter) Also, how could you tell that those folks had expired registration? If we didn't have to display our tags on our plates would you have been able to tell whether or not any of those cars were out of date? That's actually the point I've been debating with you. You mentioned that displaying tags doesn't keep anyone from driving without them and I think that's untrue. You won't find many cars out there with tags that are over a few months old. Throw out the Jan's and Feb's of 2010 and how many did you find? Why did you find Jan's and Feb's of 2010 but almost no Dec, Nov, Oct of 2009? (I think I saw a pic of one of each, maybe 2 Dec)Are there more lazy people with Jan and Feb tags or has it been long enough that the Dec and Nov's have gotten their tags? I wonder how many Jan's and Feb's you'll be able to find the middle of next month? I'm guessing you won't find many but I bet you'll see some March tags that are a few weeks out of date. See how many over 6 months old you see tomorrow. I'm guessing not many. The cops get them eventually. They can pull them over for no tags and if they have no licence they can get them off the road. If we didn't have to display our tags it would be out of control and there would be almost nothing the cops could do about it. I didn't like the displayed fishing license law either but there's no doubt it helped even if it was only a little. 6 months from now you'll be bitching about poachers even though you were against something that helped the DFG fight it. I didn't like it either but it was a small price to pay. If you know someone that tried to get that law overturned tell him to STFU for me next time he whines about the DFG.
